Dobby connected homeowners with local service professionals. An important growth channel was referrals from real estate agents, and this entailed tracking who referred whom, applying the right discounts at checkout, and disbursing referral rewards reliably—all through Stripe.
I joined Dobby as a full-stack engineer and worked across the customer, agent, and pro-facing platforms: My work here took me through Next.js with server-side rendering for the web, a Strapi CMS, and Dobby Sphere, where I worked on the React Native app, and the backend, with Python and PostgreSQL.
I worked on the payments infrastructure which sat behind the agent referral programme. When an agent referred a homeowner, the system needed to know it, price the job accordingly, and later pay out the reward or gift owed. I implemented and refined the discounting logic for referred customers and built the flows to track and disburse those referral rewards—making sure homeowners got the right discount, and agents got their rewards paid out correctly.
I also managed Dobby's infrastructure through its transition into HireNimbus, which is where I am now.
